Partner south asian mobile content confab with hsend mobile


Etisalat’s top priority is to boost local mobile phone application developers and reward them-CEO Dumindra Rathnayake
Etisalat has come forward in a big way as one of the key strategic partners of the friest-ever south asian mobile content conference and workshop 2010 as a part of its profound commitment to boost the development of mobile phone applications in Sri Lanka,which will benefit the industry as a whole ,says Dumindra Ratnayake, the company’s Chief Executive officer(CEO).


Etisalat and hSenid Mobile, two top players in the mobile services segment, are the strategic partners of this Confab which opens at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo this morning. Minister of Technology and Research, Prof.Tissa Vitharana will be the chief guest at this regional event hosted by the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA).


Coinciding with this Conference will be the mBillionth Award South Asia 2010jury to select the best mobile contents.
Around 25 high-level speakers from around the globe will share their views and strategic considerations at this parley which will discuss key issues relating to Mobile Content Market Trends and Development, Moblie Applications, Enabling Rich Content Marketing and Revenue Modules in the Mobile Applications.


“This is the first time that an important conference on the Mobile Application Development is being hosted in Sri Lanka or Perhaps in the South Asia”,Ratnayake noted.
Unlike many years ago,mobile phone application are so advanced and developed today that a mobile phone is akin to a mini computer. It can run an application as simple as checking the time or as complicated as purchasing stocks, he pointed out.
There have been very few individual developers of mobile phone applications in Sri Lanka apart from a few professionals or companies, which operators now use, the CEO said.

“Etisalat and hSenid Mobile have decided to revolutionize this sphere by opening up opportunities to everybody and anybody with basic knowledge to develop mobile phone application to take the industry to greater heights ”,  Ratnayake said.


This means that even student with a basic knowledge or engineers,who may be otherwise engaged but could find develop innovative applications which will revolutionize the industry, he said.


This is a great opportunity not only to IT and Engineering department students of universities,but also to those in IT schools to develop new and innovative applications and be rewarded for their efforts,Rathnayake noted.
“With hSenid Mobile, a global software platform developer, we want to give them the opportunity and facilitate the process with an easy interface to do this development”, he stressed.


“this will have a significant positive impact on the industry as a whole”.
“We want to promote these new development and sufficiently reward the developers by giving back to them up to 75% of the proceeds of their applications”, he explained.
